Another fishy story from up here
Since I'll be hard at it on the weekend I took a day today for another
Ord trip. The dry season south easterlies are around but the water and
air temperature are still pretty good. There were a couple of fish
caught, nothing special. The interest was in what went on around the
fishing.
Spotted an eagle eating a cow just after sunrise this
morning

Took a couple of shots then followed the
bird in the lens as it took off. Another eagle took exception had a
passing swipe. Scared the crap out of me when it appeared in the lens.

The protagonist settled down on a tree a
bit further down

A bit further don the river came across
this bit of carnage. About half a dozen crocs scattered around the body
including one boat sized critter that got within about 10 metres of the
boat. The one in the pic loving that liver was only about three metres.

A bit further down the river came across this
one eagle hovering close to a steep bank, took a couple of shots then
had a look at what was taking its interest.

Mum and a joey agile wallaby, both still
really small had got trapped on the bank somehow and couldn't jump back
up.
The eagle had a few shots while I was there, mum wallaby put a
fight but the joey was getting hit hard.

Not sure what or if to do anything,
eventually climbed up on shore and grabbed both by the tail and managed
to swing them up one at a time onto the top, about a metre above my
head. With some luck they would have survived, they were both weak when I
got to them and sh1t scared of that eagle.
Drove through some
early season burning on the way home, be doing a bit of that myself come
