Truffles
I was looking for truffle info this morning and found this.
"A Western Australian venture, The Wine and Truffle
Co, had its first harvest in 2004, and in 2005 they unearthed a 1 kg
truffle. In 2008, an estimated 600 kilograms (1,300 lb) of truffles were
removed from the rich ground of Manjimup"
not the most common of fungi, just thought it was interesting [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Gday Mugs .
As you may or may not know I'm a comm fisherman and over the years have smelt my share of disgusting things . The breath of a green turtle for one , decomposing whale carcasses are probably two of the worste . Nothing however dead or alive in the ocean smells as vile as bloody truffles .

Re: Truffles
totally agree - some kind soul gifted us a bottle of truffle oil - dripped and I mean dripped a couple of drops on some stuffed field mushrooms I was roasting - well they were stuffed literally as the stench invaded the house and none of us could bring ourselves to even taste the result - so I on gifted the oil to someone I didn't like who reckons he is a gaumand - odd but haven't heard from him since
