Sharks
Another day, another attack, another death.
I for one DON'T subscribe to the ''its their environment, they can eat us'' crap.
If you subscribe to that way of thinking, for argument sake, and you were in action in Iraq, you'd walk around with no helmet or weapon?????????
No, probably not!
Humans are the Kings of the beasts, stop cringing about the fact, get out there and sort the problem sharks out....oh, you can add Croc's in there as well.
Problem these days, everyone's so fkn scared to upset all and sundry with any action or threat of retaliation.

Re: Sharks
I'm not sure what the end result was Mugs.
After The Aquabella Co took control of the project i heard it was struggling in 2007/8? and I think another UK based Co [New Forest] might have taken them over??

Re: Sharks
Gotta go along with Chook on this one. Mind you I have a feeling this won't be the last time we have this scenario this summer. Assuming the water doesn't get too warm for the Whites the big buggers will hang around and why not...easy pickins'
Talking to a local the other day who had a big one nudge his boat just last week while he was drifting for whiting less than 1000 metres off the cut. He was sure the thing was 6 metres long so then he took a metre of it because he was shitting himself at the time...He still gets whitefaced recounting it a week later.

Re: Sharks
so what can be done ............ serious question
how do you go about sorting the killer out ? do you just have a general cull up, thin them out a bit, some of the big girls would be innocent breeders surely so you cant use size as a rule of thumb.
The attacks are random so unless a pattern forms how do you decide which white dies ?
And I'm no greenie, just thinking aloud and asking the question.

Re: Sharks
Innocent breeders....I reckon the old girls are the worst. Seeing as the pups attack, kill and eat each other while in the womb it's frightening what the bloody genes are telling them.
Lets not forget these are prehistoric creatures just like crocs. The last of the T'rexes and they died out.

Re: Sharks
ok .. lets ask the same question again then,
what do you do ? kill all the great whites ? kill everything over 3mtr ? wipe them out altogether ?
by the way, I love a crocodile

Re: Sharks
Shark fishing USED to be an industry.
Start up a quota system and reduce the numbers.
My mates in the pro-fish industry are telling me they have never seen so many big sharks at sea....ever!
If you're going to make more and more marine parks [zero fishing] then by natural logic the food stock increases and the predators numbers rise in direct proportion. Hardly fukn rocket science.

Re: Sharks
It will come to a head. Maybe not soon but soonish, the culling will start. We'll also be culling Crocs in a few years as well.
Re: Sharks
The croc culling is far more over due than the Sharks.
At least sharks dont get out and wander around looking for you!!
